What is it?

What is fashion?
“The prevailing style or custom, as in dress or behavior: out of fashion.
2. Something, such as a garment, that is in the current mode: a swimsuit that is the latest fashion.
3. The style characteristic of the social elite: a man of fashion.
4.
a. Manner or mode; way: Set the table in this fashion.
b. A personal, often idiosyncratic manner: played the violin in his own curious fashion.
5. Kind or variety; sort: people of all fashions.
6. Shape or form; configuration.”

Fashion.
I don’t particularly care for that word. Its vulgar. Its confined. It means that everything must be superior, and those Jimmy Choos you bought last year aren’t trendy anymore. ‘Trendy’, another one. What is this? ‘its the latest fashion’.
I prefer the word ‘style’ or ‘art’. A style is the way you convey yourself, which is different to the way you might acoustically convey yourself. It is not as superficial as people may believe. I believe conveying emotions, states of being, attitudes towards the world, opinions can be expressed through dress, shape, form, contour, colour, material, woven, tailored, thrifted. I believe it is an art. A form of art. Art can be formed within many different realms. I want to explore how art shouldn’t be contrived to the paintings of the renaissance era and everything else being a mere conceptual, modernistic take on the luxuries in life. We observe and appreciate the natural world, such as flowers; the essence of their beauty captured in their smell, shape, colour. Clothes should be this way too. Lets rid this and warm to the aesthetics, the colour, the beauty of clothing. I believe, in the emotional turmoil of my heart when thinking of McQueen, that his many creations were expressions of feeling, emotion, state of mind, sculpture and Art, basically. The raptures of gold netting tied round the waistband of a Prada printed dress accompanied by teal embroidery, this is an expression of an art. Someone has had a vision, a contemporary movement in the making of this; someone’s creation. Art can be expressed in many different forms, these being the mere utters of speech, sound, the way someone conveys themselves through this, or dress, or style. The list is endless, and never ending. We are constantly on the search for new, exciting art forms, Art is the luxury of life which depends greatly on nature for its base. Take a look outside, spot a tree? How can we dismiss these beautiful forms for not being uninspiring, dull or unhelpful? We cant, which is why style is an expression of an art through the unconscious belief in nature and admiration of it.
As another day dawns on me I rush through what i have planned for it and unconsciously, plan what i will wear. We all do it. Some more than others. A hard faced business man wakes up and doesn’t throw a tee shirt over his head for his million pound investment meeting, he dresses how he needs to express himself, to help himself. The earth is a beautiful planet, and this seems to me like an inevitable luxury, the luxury of sight; seeing something beautiful. This is where the importance of it begins. How can it be so superficial? To be fair, superficial does exist, and aspects of this lie in the eyes of watching celebrities, the inevitable clones roaming the earth, with only one wish to ‘look good’.  I believe style is not superficial, it is something from within, when you have established who you are, what you want to be, how you express yourself, your emotions, ideas, opinions and how nature has influenced you, and what you want to give to the world, unconsciously comes out in how we dress. How we are influenced by others, as a race, we are similar yet so different. The mass manufacture of clothes keep the reality in synch, yet the wearing and styling and throwing on and advising and tailoring and cutting and revamping  and selling and borrowing and coordinating makes everyones eyes different. Maybe it is in the essence of one eye that everything is different to another. We all see different things, visions and ideas comfort our souls, believe it or not the most uninspiring person to many (although i don’t believe inspiring can be measured) could be the most inspiring to another in a paradoxical way relating to their state of being, so many reasons unknown to another, different thinking eye. Which is probably why ‘cloning’, in a strange way is interesting  due to the way the eyes are converging despite their own preferences, so maybe its not so bad? Note: i mean cloning in the sense of style, state of being, appearance, mindset and dress converging to a popular socio trend or pact within generally a younger society.
