browns

Browsing through Vogue, I noticed that browns and neutrals are a trend for this upcoming autumn winter. I am pleased as I really do love the autumnal shades.
I am overjoyed at the trends: Purple, Black Leather, Prints, Florals (suprisingly, but more powerful according to Vogue), Oversized (LOVE this trend, yes!), Eye popping opticals (Prada have got this to the tee), The new Opulence (embroidery, jewels, regal colours), Layering (yessss!), Waists (another personal fave), Oriental (wanted an oriental high collar dress for ages!), Countryside alliance, Psychedelic furs (who doesn't love fur?!) and Trousers (I love trousers, of any kind...) So I am pretty happy!

Anyway...it was results day and I was happy- 2 A's and a B! Full marks on my english language paper! Off to UCA in september!
Decided to go for my new vintage large holdall, new round asos sunnies, Hemp multi red dress with gorgeous spaghetti straps for that minimal edge worn under this vintage pleated skirt. I am in fear however, that these pleated skirts are becoming overwhelmingly popular...

Monday

camouflage

Ended up buying an army type jacket from a local vintage store. wanted one for a while (despite their increase in popularity) as they're so easy to throw on over anything, just need a spaghetti strap chiffon loose maxi dress to go with. Paired it today with lilac chinos, vintage bag and shirt. The jacket was a flimsy buy but I was browsing through Vogue and noticed that the trend is going right through to A/W12! Win win! The last photo is of the huge amount of shoes in a vintage shop on Portobello Road in Notting Hill, gorgeous stuff but extortionate prices- £80 for an unnamed tee!

Tie Dye

Did the generic summer thing and bought myself a vintage tie dye dress from a tiny vintage shop in Robin Hood's Bay filled with 40's and 60's dresses! Wanted to do my own t shirts and array of tie dye getup but feel it has become way too popular now. I just love the brights around and they can be paired with just about anything, opted for this vintage denim shirt. Just a great summer dress. My brother is quite into it too, hence the cheese.

Tuesday

an attempt of a capsule wardrobe

When in London last week I picked up these white heeled lace up boots from Oxford St Topshop. Fell in love with the chunky heel and colour immediately. They look fabulous with midi skirts and a pinched in waist. They are the beginning of my attempt of a capsule wardrobe. I want to rid my wardrobe of ditsy florals and an accumulation of unneeded clothing. I bought this jumpsuit from Gap as a beginning of this capsule wardrobe also. It is effortlessly chique and alludes to a monochrome Chanel feel. Paired it with these shoes to give height and sillhouette and my Barbara Wiggin bag from Portobello road. I also bought this sheer spaghetti strap top from American Apparel as another piece of my capsule wardrobe. Starting it up with monochrome basics is a good way of keeping everything coordinating.

Friday

London!

Result of a few days in London with a couple of friends. Stayed in Kensington, visited just about everywhere! It was boiling so I opted for flowy maxi/midis with crops or shirts. These, a mixture of vintage and topshop were great. And a failsafe black rucksak and saltwater sandals. I bought some items to help me create a capsule wardrobe, something I've wanted to do for a while now. Mainly monochrome.
